Pear crumble

I like this dessert  because it doesn’t have much sugar and you can make it with any seasonal fruit.  It is especially good with vanilla ice cream or yogurt, serve warm or at room temperature .

You need:

  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 6 tbsp. butter (cold and cubed)
  • 1/2 ground cinnamon
  • 2 lbs. ripe pears (cored and cubed)
  • 1/3 cup blackberries
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1/2 arrowroot
  • tbsp lemon zest
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice 

Preheat oven to 375F. In food processor combine flour, oats, sugar, salt and butter. Mix it until you see crumbs. In 10 inch iron skillet place coconut oil. Add pears, cinnamon, lemon zest and lemon juice, cook for a minute. Add arrowroot. Cook 5 min., stirring often. Remove from heat. Stir in blackberries and sprinkle crumb topping all over pears. Top with almonds and bake 25 min., or until brown on top.
